The passing of Claire Elizabeth Quinn, 57, of Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, has left family, friends, and the Bergen Catholic community mourning the loss of a woman remembered for her warmth, generosity, faith, and devotion to those around her. Claire died peacefully at home on August 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, following an 18-month battle with brain cancer.
Claire’s life was defined by the meaningful relationships she built and the kindness she extended to others. Born in New York City on November 12, 1968, and raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey, she developed a passion for athletics and became a Division I soccer player at St. Bonaventure University. It was there that she studied journalism and met her future husband, Michael Quinn. Their relationship eventually blossomed into a marriage that began in 1994 and grew into a loving family.
As a mother, Claire devoted herself wholeheartedly to her three sons, Ian, Carter, and Nathaniel. She celebrated their accomplishments, supported their dreams, and remained present for the milestones that shaped their lives. Her family was at the center of everything she did, and the love she shared with them will remain one of the most important parts of her legacy.
Claire also touched countless lives through her professional and community service. At Bergen Catholic High School, she served as a Philanthropy Gift Officer, using her communication skills and natural ability to connect with people to help support students and their families. Her work reflected her belief in the importance of giving, community, and creating opportunities for others.
Her commitment to service extended beyond her career. Claire taught CCD at St. Gabriel’s Church and helped co-found the Angel Fund at Ho-Ho-Kus School. Through these efforts, she demonstrated the compassion and generosity that so many people came to associate with her.
Those who loved Claire remember her as joyful, loyal, compassionate, and deeply loving. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, welcomed, and valued. Even during her courageous battle with cancer, she continued expressing her love to the people around her, reminding them of what mattered most.
Her passing leaves an enormous void for Michael, her sons, her mother, brothers, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and the many members of the communities she served. Yet alongside the grief is gratitude for the years, memories, laughter, encouragement, and love she gave so freely.
Claire’s life reminds us that a meaningful legacy is not measured only by accomplishments but by the lives touched along the way. Through her family, her work, her faith, and her generosity, she created a lasting impact that will continue long after her passing.
As family and friends gather to honor Claire, may they find comfort in the memories that remain. May her sons always carry with them the love their mother gave them, and may her husband and family find strength in knowing how deeply she was loved.
The scholarship established in Claire’s name will provide another lasting expression of the generosity that defined her life, allowing her commitment to helping others to continue into the future.
Our heartfelt condolences go to Michael, Ian, Carter, Nathaniel, and everyone who loved Claire. May they find peace in the beautiful memories they shared, strength in one another, and comfort in knowing that Claire’s kindness and love will continue through every life she touched.
May Claire Elizabeth Quinn rest in eternal peace. Her life was a gift to her family and community, her memory will remain cherished, and her legacy of love, faith, compassion, and generosity will never be forgotten.
